Description

The 27.5″ Oracle Unicycle with a Disc brake installed as standard. The design is aimed at the serious unicycle rider, offering design advantages that help exceed riders current performance. The Oracle has a lightweight but very stiff Aluminium frame with a durable powdercoated finish and smart looking decals to finish it off. At the heart of the Unicycle is the Nimbus disc hub, which allows the disc brake rotor to be mounted inside the frame, keeping it as far away from your foot or rocks as possible. With the super strong deep box section of the Dominator II rim this Unicycle will take anything you can throw at it.

My first muni and it was a good choice. The parts are strong and durable, obviously important for a wheel that will be subjected to heavy off road use and thousands of upds. The brakes are very good, smooth and plenty of power.

I ordered the Nimbus Oracle 27.5 unicycle from the UK for my 62nd birthday. It arrived at my home in Alberta, Canada a few days later. Assistance from their staff was excellent. This is the ultimate unicycle for cross-country over hilly terrain and rough ground. It’s fast and comfortable with the large wide wheel. I usually cruise about 7 km on it. The seat is extremely comfortable on long rides. Light pressure on the brake helps a lot on steep descents. I’m impressed with the high quality of the unicycle and the engineering that has obviously gone into its components.

I have an Oracle 26 which I love more than life but so does my 11-year-old son. The Oracle 27.5 had been calling me for a while, so, after several very helpful chats with Nick at UDC about what I’d need, I ordered all the parts to put one together—minus the break and a couple parts I already had—to save a bit of money. It was a great price and came fully assembled. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I like it better than the 26. It rides smoother, faster, roles better, handles great, and is easy to free mount. I find I can navigate some of the backwoods trails, now, without getting uprooted quite so often, and I make it farther before getting tossed. It is a bit less nimble—the 26 is easier to idle on and ride backwards, and maneuvers slightly better in the snow and on the more technical, rougher trails. But I’m 59 and probably shouldn’t be riding some of these trails, anyway. In the end, I prefer the speed and rolling power of the 27.5, but I’m glad I have them both.

This arrived a couple of days ago and is my first muni, my only off-road experience previously being on a Nimbus 20 and Indy trials. I’m very pleased with it having chosen in after two long conversations with UDC staff. It’s a monster of a muni and somehow with the fat tyre looks even bigger than my nephew’s KH29. I still feel a bit clumsy on it and expect it’ll take me a while to get used to the big wheel, with freemounting sometimes taking me a couple of attempts. But braking is easier than I expected and it’s no problem to maintain light pressure to keep speed under check without any grabbing. From the pictures I wasn’t sure about the black and green colour scheme but in the metal it looks great. Note that if you cut down the seatpost as I’ve had to (I’m 5’10”) you will also need to cut the brake hose to length (or coil the hose several times around the seatpost which isn’t ideal). The Kenda Havok tyre is great and feels as if it will get over anything. Probably over the top for fire roads, canal towpaths etc, but will come into its own at the local trail centre.
